Ian  Ogden

 

Ian Ogden graduated with honors from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. While at NYU, Ian was awarded a Panavision New Filmmaker Production Grant, with which he wrote, directed, and edited COPPERHEAD ROAD - a 35mm short film that had an International Premiere at the 2006 Sao Paulo International Film Festival, was an “Official Selection” at 21 festivals worldwide, and was awarded “Best Narrative Short” at the 2006 Denver Underground Film Festival and “Honorable Mention for a Short Film” at the 2005 Big Apple Film Festival.


Since graduating, Ian has been working as a freelance film and video editor on numerous projects including short films, commercials, and music videos. Recently, his work as the editor on Jonathan Sanden’s short film, Extropy, was recognized with a Craft Award at NYU’s 2009 First Run Film Festival. Additionally, Ian has worked as a script supervisor on the narrative feature, Brother, and as a production manager on industrials for Panasonic, Ford Motor Company, and Zest Soap.


Ian is also currently seeking financing for CHILD IN THE DARK - a low-budget horror screenplay that was awarded a Panasonic Filmmaker Grant at IFP’s 2008 Independent Film Week Project Forum, won the “Award for Creative Excellence” in the 2008 Slamdance Film Festival Horror Screenplay Competition (600 horror script entries), won 2nd Place in the 2008 Scriptapalooza Screenplay Competition (4,300 entries), placed 4th out of 2,200 entries in the 2007 Slamdance Film Festival Screenplay Competition (all genres), and was selected to participate in the 2008 Atlanta Film Festival Screenplay Lab, the 2009 Hamptons International Film Festival Screenwriters’ Lab, NALIP’S 2009 Latino Writers Lab, and NALIP’s 2009 Latino Producers Academy - which Ian attended as a Director Fellow. The project will mark Ian’s feature-length directorial debut.


Originally from South Florida, Ian is currently based in Brooklyn, New York and is repped by Jill McElroy and James Engle at Benderspink. He is a member of the New York chapter of the Independent Feature Project (IFP) and the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP).
